Switss® 4-bay M.2 RAID enclosure
USB4 40 Gbps, RAID 0, 1, 5, JBOD and PM, up to 32 TB.
Empty enclosure: you fit up to four M.2 NVMe SSDs yourself (M-key, 2230 to 2280). Which SSD fits?
Before you order: how it fits, how to set it up and whether it works with your laptop.
More detail
NVMe M.2 SSDs with M-key fit, in sizes 2230 to 2280 and up to 8 TB per SSD. You can fit up to four SSDs. NVMe is the fast type of M.2 SSD; your SSD's specifications tell you which type you have. A SATA M.2 SSD does not work.

You slide the tray out of the enclosure, place your SSDs and secure them with the silicone plugs; you need a small screwdriver for that. Then you connect the power adapter first and then the USB-C cable. You don't need extra software (drivers). Further down this page you can see what each RAID mode does.

It works on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. You get full speed, up to 3000 MB per second with several fast NVMe SSDs together in RAID 0, on a USB4 port (40 Gbps). On a 10 Gbps port you get around 1050 MB per second.

M.2 NVMe SSDs only (M-key), 2230 to 2280; up to 8 TB per SSD
Compatibility
From 2230 to 2280, up to 8 TB per SSD

Each bay has four holes, one for each length: 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280. Secure the end of your SSD with the silicone plug in the hole for that length: press it in and turn it.

Cooling
Heatsink and fan carry the heat away
More detail
The thermal pad sits between your M.2 SSD and the aluminium heatsink and passes the heat on. The cooling fins of the heatsink release that heat into the air, and the fan in the rear cap blows the warm air out.
Place the enclosure on a hard, flat surface and do not cover the ventilation openings.

With several fast NVMe SSDs together in RAID 0 you reach up to 3000 MB/s, on a USB4 port of 40 Gbps and with the cable that comes with it. One SSD reaches up to 16 Gbps. It also works on a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port of 10 Gbps, at around 1050 MB/s. What you actually get depends on your SSDs and your port.

With fast NVMe SSDs together in RAID 0 on a USB4 port you reach up to 3000 MB/s: a 20 GB folder is copied in about 7 seconds.
Work directly from the drive in your editing or photo software. Heatsink and fan keep the SSDs cool, even on long transfers.
With RAID 1 everything is on two SSDs at once; with RAID 5 one SSD may fail. RAID is not a backup: keep important files elsewhere too.
Up to 32 TB in one enclosure of 124 by 126 mm, with its own power adapter.

Every M.2 NVMe SSD with M-key fits, in the lengths 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280, up to 8 TB per SSD. You can fit up to four SSDs; you do not need to fill all four bays. If the label says NVMe or PCIe, you have the right type. Not sure? Check “Which M.2 do I have?” above first.
No. This enclosure only works with M.2 NVMe SSDs with M-key. A SATA M.2 SSD has two notches in the gold edge and does not work, just like B-key, mSATA, 2.5 inch drives and SSDs longer than 80 mm.
RAID 0 turns two or more SSDs into one big, fast drive, but if one fails you lose everything. RAID 1 stores everything twice, on two SSDs. RAID 5 uses the space of one SSD for protection, from three SSDs. With JBOD you combine the SSDs into one big drive, with PM each SSD is its own drive. Choosing another mode erases all data on the SSDs, and RAID is not a backup.
A USB-C port that transfers data. On a USB4 port (40 Gbps), several fast NVMe SSDs together in RAID 0 reach up to 3000 MB/s; one SSD reaches up to 16 Gbps. On a 10 Gbps port you get around 1050 MB/s. A port with only a battery symbol is for charging and does not transfer data. The enclosure always needs the included power adapter.
An aluminium heatsink with 28 cooling fins rests on your SSDs via thermal pads, and a fan in the rear cap blows the warm air out. That keeps the speed up, even on long transfers. Place the enclosure on a hard, flat surface and keep the ventilation openings clear.
No. This is an empty enclosure: you fit up to four M.2 NVMe SSDs yourself (2230 to 2280) and secure them with the silicone plugs. You need a small screwdriver for that. For RAID, preferably use identical SSDs. No SSDs yet? Check “Which M.2 do I have?” above first, so you are sure to order the right ones.
